 Matthew 28:19-20

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you also ways, to the end of the age.”

EEMN currently is serving in Albania, Belarus, Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Russia, Slovakia, and Ukraine. We offer opportunities for North American volunteers to participate as members of short-term missions (STM) teams that serve to connect with people in former communist and Soviet bloc nations in East Europe, Russia, and the Balkans. EEMN missions teams host cross-cultural English Bible camps and schools for children; Life & Adventure camps for teens; and Bible studies for adults. Overseas teaching opportunities also exist for pastors and ministry leaders in a variety of settings and terms of service, through EEMN Regional Learning Centers. Long-term and career missionaries are also called, equipped, and sent to serve in specific kingdom-building capacities that help empower, equip, and grow the visions for ministry of our indigenous co-workers, overseas. This is how relationships are strengthened, disciples are made, and the Body of Christ is equipped for Kingdom Building.

EEMN Ministries Comprehensive Overview Video

Who We Are

We are an international relational network. Founded in 1992, following the fall of communism, EEMN is a conservative, evangelical, pan-Lutheran – but first and foremost – Christian mission organization that connects partners with indigenous Christians living in former communist and Soviet bloc nations. EEMN is a national 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is registered in Bloomington, MN and headquartered in Albuquerque, NM. We are blessed to serve alongside a vast network of North American supporters, throughout the US and Canada.

What We Do

Connecting People to Christian Missions. Our primary passion is twofold: Engaging in the Gospel with people who have never encountered the saving grace, love, and mercy of God in Christ Jesus; and connecting North American and international ministries to teach and equip a new generation of leaders committed to building authentic communities in Christ.

Why We Do It

Every Life Transformed in Christ! Because of the 400+ year physical presence of the Lutheran Church in East Europe, Russia, and the Balkans EEMN is uniquely poised to network with the remnant of indigenous co-workers in ministry from the historical Lutheran Church. We do recognize the strength in an ecumenical witness of our life in Jesus Christ and so we also collaborate with Christians from other conservative traditions. The goal is Engaging, Reclaiming, and Transforming Every Life in Christ!

As a sending agency, EEMN has placed career missionaries in Poland, Latvia, Ukraine, Russia, Hungary, and Turkey. We also strive to equip our international ministry partners to serve as missionaries within their own cultures. Each summer, short-term missions teams are sent to serve alongside these full time missionaries and ministry partners.

Organizational Structure

Executive Director

Pastor David Breidenbach joined the EEMN staff as Executive Director in March 2015. David spent 14-years at his previous call, where he served as Associate Pastor and Director of Overseas Missions at Faith Lutheran Church in Albuquerque, NM. Faith Lutheran also sent out Pr. David and his wife, Angela, in early 2010, to start a second, satellite campus serving the people on Albuquerque’s Westside and city of Rio Rancho. That satellite campus ultimately resulted in their planting a new LCMC congregation where Pr. Breidenbach served as Lead Pastor until accepting his call with EEMN.

Beginning in 2006, David & Angela, and their family, participated as volunteers, hosted fundraising opportunities, and served as team leaders for short-term summer missions with EEMN to former Soviet bloc nations, including Poland, Slovakia, Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus. They also developed strong relationships and hosted in their home, strategic partners in ministry from Ukraine, Latvia, and Belarus. It was through these experiences in short-term summer missions and in developing relationships and a genuine love for the people of Eastern Europe that made the indelible impression and solidified their sense of call and passion for a life in full-time missions work – connecting ministry partners, discipling Christ-followers, equipping the saints, and helping develop sustainable ministries in obedience to the Great Commission.

A second career pastor; David began his internship in 2004 at Faith Lutheran in Albuquerque and was commissioned as a contract-call pastor under LCMC guidelines, on Easter 2006. After completing his seminary education, David was ordained in November 2007. In his first career, David worked for 14-years in the broadcast television production industry and also owned and managed a commercial voice-over studio.

Pr. David attended the University of Albuquerque and UNM. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in biblical and theological studies and his Master of Divinity degree in biblical and theological studies from Trinity Southwest University at Albuquerque, NM.

Pr. David and his wife, Angela, married in 1991, though they first met in 1981, while attending high school. Their youngest daughter is a university student, majoring in Anthropology . Their eldest daughter and son-in-law are both nationally certified Paramedics and have recently made David and Angela first time grandparents!

David’s interests include his family, music, reading, travel, photography, the great outdoors, four-wheeling, hot air ballooning, and Near East biblical archaeology.
