What if I’m waiting for my passport?

How do I know if I am accepted?

What happens if I am accepted but later decide to cancel?
Can I arrange my own travel and meet you in the country?

Q. What if I’m waiting for my passport?
A.

Provide the date of application on your EEMN application form and provide a copy of the passport application form if possible. Contact Sally Moberly at sjmoberly@eemn.org immediately upon receiving your passport.

Q.

How do I know if I am accepted?

A.

After you send in your application packet (including all the requested materials), your application will be processed. Once approved, you will receive an acceptance letter and our “Welcome Packet,” which includes lots of information and training materials.

Q. What happens if I am accepted but later decide to cancel?
A. The application fee is non-refundable and will not be cashed until you are approved for your trip

Q. Can I arrange my own travel and meet you in the country?
A. The policy of EEMN STRONGLY ADVISES all trip participants to travel with the group when going on one of our EEMN Teams.  While it may appear occasionally to provide a cheaper alternative to arrange your own airfare, the difficulties this poses for the group and our in country missionary hosts are many. It is difficult, expensive and at times impossible to make return trips to distant airports to pick up people who arrive at a different day or time. The usual language barriers make arrival on your own, taxi rental or the use of public transportation extremely difficult as well. When other overseas travel makes this an attractive or even necessary option for you, YOU MUST ask permission of EEMN during the application phase. If permission is granted to travel on your own, you will be expected to make your own arrangements to meet the team at the airport or other prearranged place at a time that fits with the group travel schedule. If travel is delayed, any extra expenses and any other required actions to rejoin the team will be the sole responsibility of the individual.

How do I apply for a Passport?

Q. What if I don't have a Passport?
A.

Apply immediately!  Obtaining your passport is one of the first steps to take once you’ve made the decision to serve on a short-term mission trip.  Without it, you won’t be leaving American soil!  For trips to Russia, where visas are necessary, the necessity of your passport is VERY time sensitive.

Q. Who needs a Passport?
A. All individuals traveling outside of the United States and entering foreign soil.

Q. When should I apply for a Passport?
A. As soon as possible! The process takes a minimum of 6 weeks (unless you rush process it for an extra fee).

Q. What if my Passport is expired, or will expire during the dates of my trip?
A.

Passports are renewable at any passport agency or by mail, unless you were under 16 when you were issued your now expired passport.  Click here for detailed information and forms

Q. How do I apply for a Passport?
A. Visit your local passport agency (often located at your local Post Office) and bring proof of US citizenship (birth or naturalization certificate), identification (driver's license or government ID), two (2) passport photos, and the correct passport fee amount.  Click here for detailed information and forms

Team Training

Why is team training necessary?

Why can't I see the team training pages once I have registered on the website?

How does the training program work?

What if I don’t have internet access?

Q.

Why is team training necessary?

A.

Proper training and preparation is necessary for you as you anticipate serving in mission cross-culturally. Our training program is a comprehensive program, focusing on many key areas of preparation. From personal and spiritual readiness to cultural preparation and ministry skill preparation, it is our desire that you be adequately equipped for the task at hand. Any investment you make in preparing to serve the Lord will be a blessing returned to you as you serve on the mission field.

Q. Why can't I see the team training pages once I have registered on the website?
A. The team training pages are only active for certain dates.   Please refer to the "Team Training Sign Up" page for the specific dates when the training pages are active.

Q.

How does the training program work?

A.  As many of our team members live throughout the US, we have sought to provide a training program that meets the needs of team members from a variety of geographic locations. Our online training provides discussion forums, chat rooms, and instant updates among other features, which allows for communication and training at a new level.

Individuals are responsible for their progress as they follow the training schedule of assignments. Much of the core content is expressed through our EEMN Mission Guide, a supplementary training book, our online training site, and online training video sessions. Team meetings are held for team members to grow together in unity, pray together for the mission, and stay accountable for individual training responsibilities.

Q.

What if I don’t have internet access?

A.

If you don’t have internet access at your home, local library, school or place of work, contact John Moberly (john@eemn.org or 505-990-1639) to set up the EEMN snail mail training alternative.

Trip Preparation

Do I need a visa?

Do I need to have immunization shots?

What should I focus on most as I prepare?

Why should I keep up with training assignments?

What kinds of things should I pack?

Now that my airline itinerary is set and a deposit is made on my ticket, will my ticket price change?

Q.

Do I need a visa?

A.

Only trips going to Russia need visas.

Q.

Do I need to have immunization shots?

A. The US Center for Disease Control does not require any immunizations for travel to Eastern Europe. To learn about any recent recommendations, visit their website at wwwn.cdc.gov/travel/regionEasternEuropeNorthernAsia.aspx

Q.

What should I focus on most as I prepare?

A.

Prayer! Keeping your relationship with the Lord in the center is the most important priority you can make. During the months of preparation, take time to pray for the Lord’s guidance in your life. Pray for your teammates, your team’s mission, the host ministries and/or missionaries, and the people with whom you will share God’s love.

Q.

Why should I keep up with training assignments?

A.

We encourage you to make a sincere effort to stay on track and make training a priority. To the extent that you properly prepare yourself for the mission ahead, you will be more usable for the Lord and you will receive the benefits of what you have gained.

Q.

What kinds of things should I pack?

A.

See your Mission Guide under the “Logistics” section for information about what to pack.

Q. Now that my airline itinerary is set and a deposit is made on my ticket, will my ticket price change?
A. Yes, it may vary some; note the disclaimer on the Itinerary: “**Taxes and fuel surcharges are subject to change until ticketing.”

What this means is that taxes & fuel surcharges will not be fully fixed until the ticket is actually issued. The price on the ticket may change, that is out of our control. We can't purchase your ticket until enough money comes into your account to cover it. This is why it is important to be timely in your support raising.
