Pastor Bob Nordvall joined the EEMN staff as the new National Field Coordinator on January 1, 2010. Consequent to a sabbatical in Estonia and Latvia in 2006, where he taught classes on Addictions and Family Ministry at Tartu Academy of Theology in Tartu, Estonia, and St. Gregor’s School in Saldus, Latvia, the Nordvalls were blessed with a conviction and a calling to serve as advocates for EEMN and its partners in Eastern Europe and Russia. Especially close to their hearts is the ministry of the Tartu Academy of Theology, which is currently an EEMN Ministry Partner.

Bob’s roots in Roseau, MN, and Karen’s in Binford, ND, were brought together when they met at Concordia College, in Moorhead, MN and were married in 1967. Following seminary training at Luther Northwestern, in St. Paul, MN, Bob was ordained. His first call into ministry was as a missionary to Papua New Guinea, where they served from 1971 to 1982. They served with local evangelists and pastors in the mountain regions before accepting a call in 1976 to be Lutheran Chaplain at the University of Papua New Guinea in Port Moresby.

After three years in Taylor-Richardton, a rural parish in Western ND, they went to Charity Lutheran in Bismarck, where Bob just completed almost 25 years as Senior Pastor. Charity Lutheran joined LCMC (Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ) in 2001.

Bob continues in his service of over two decades as a chaplain for the Heartview Foundation, helping people caught in drug and alcohol addictions with spiritual formation and direction. Karen taught English as a Second Language to refugees through Bismarck Public Schools, and now teaches Art at Shiloh Christian High School.

They have two grown and married children: Karl Nordvall (Tina Langhough) and Siri Myhrom (Mike) who live Edgerton, WI, and Minneapolis, MN, respectively.

Pastor Bob and his wife currently live in Richfield, MN, which will serve as his base of operations while he serves as a resource for congregations with preaching and promoting the ministry of EEMN.
